Established in 1993, the Portland Hockey Trust was co-founded by Tom Edwards while he served as the Superintendent of Portland Schools. Our journey started on Wednesday afternoons at the former Jack Elementary School site, now the East End Community School. The program quickly expanded as Hall (Rowe), Presumpscot, and Longfellow schools joined.

Today, PHT operates as a dedicated volunteer-led organization, hosting two eight-week sessions every spring and fall. Our two-hour clinics are run by passionate coaches and equipment specialists united by a shared devotion to the sport. We provide all necessary gear and skates, inviting every 3rd, 4th, and 5th-grade student in Portland to learn and play hockey completely free of charge.
